Solo
Guilherme Rodrigues’s solo act is centred on an expanded exploration of the cello as an acoustic, physical and spatial instrument. Through extended techniques, instrument preparation, attentive listening and an open approach to improvisation, the work unfolds between texture, resonance, gesture and sonic detail.
The Treasures Are
(with Harri Sjöström)
"The Treasures Are" is a collaborative project with Harri Sjöström, centred on free improvisation, attentive listening and the unfolding of sound in real time. Rooted in a shared commitment to openness, nuance and sonic exploration, the duo develops a musical language shaped by subtle interaction, shifting textures and a continuous sensitivity to space, detail and transformation.
Frente Leste
(with Nuno Torres & Ernesto Rodrigues)
A group dedicated to free improvisation and real-time sonic creation, bringing together Guilherme Rodrigues, Nuno Torres and Ernesto Rodrigues.
Grounded in intense listening, a textural language and a strong openness of form, the project unfolds through the meeting of different trajectories within contemporary improvised music, exploring subtlety, tension, density and the continuous transformation of sound.
Hunter Underwater
(with Hui-Chun Lin, Gábor Hártyani & Ayse Hatipoglu)
A cello quartet co-founded by Hui-Chun Lin and Guilherme Rodrigues. The group explores the timbral, textural and resonant possibilities of the cello, working between improvisation, sound mass, micro-variation and collective interaction. They present concerts and workshops on a regular basis.

dis/con/sent
(with Dietrich Petzold, Ernesto Rodrigues, Matthias Bauer)
A string quartet dedicated to free improvisation, composition and collective sonic exploration.
Co-founded by Guilherme Rodrigues, the group develops a language grounded in deep listening, timbral subtlety and the construction of open forms, expanding the possibilities of the string quartet within the context of contemporary and experimental music.
Conundrum
(with Alexander von Schlippenbach, Ernesto Rodrigues, Nuno Torres, Wili Kellers)
They came together for the first time in November 2022 in Berlin, in the context of the Frente Leste trio tour, an encounter that led to the first album, Conundrum, released by Creative Sources on 11 June 2023.
The second album, Nickelsdorf, documents the continued trajectory of this quintet and was recorded live on 26 July 2025 at Konfrontationen #45, at Jazzgalerie Nickelsdorf in Austria, one of the most historically significant contexts of European improvised music.
Red List Ensemble
(with Marko Hefele, Rieko Okuda, Michael Thieke, Matthias Müller, Mia Dyberg, Klaus Kürvers, Sofia Borges, Richard Scott)
The ensemble is dedicated to the exploration of a textural and electroacoustic language, combining acoustic instruments and electronics through spontaneous, non-hierarchical improvisation grounded in extended techniques. Over the course of its trajectory, the group has developed a distinct identity within experimental music and contemporary creation, marked by collective listening, timbral subtlety and the construction of dense sonic landscapes in constant transformation. The ensemble already has a second album, reinforcing the continuity and consistency of its artistic work.
Reanimation Orchestra
(with Elo Masing, Jack Adler-McKean, Marie Takahashi, Caroline Cecilia Tallone, Ingólfur Vilhjálmsson, JD Zazie)
The Reanimation Orchestra is an international, multidisciplinary and open-structured ensemble united by the desire to blur the boundaries between the roles of composer, performer and improviser. Dedicated to improvisation, sonic experimentation and collective creation, the orchestra unfolds within a context of great timbral and structural diversity, where listening, interaction and the constant transformation of musical material occupy a central place. In 2022, the ensemble received support from Musikfonds through the project Reanimation Composes.

Berlin Improvisers Orchestra
A Berlin-based collective of around 20 musicians dedicated to free, conducted and contemporary improvisation. For more than 15 years, the ensemble has developed a collaborative practice marked by openness to international guests and by a musical approach that brings together free jazz, improvised music, contemporary creation and sonic landscapes of a strongly experimental character.
Theatre & Performance
In the context of music theatre, performance and interdisciplinary stage works, his practice extends beyond the role of cellist. My artistic contribution lies between live music, stage presence, physical action and collaborative creation, at times also involving the use of different instruments, sound objects and other forms of performative expression. In these contexts, i've worked not only as an instrumental performer, but also as an active presence within the creative process of each piece. This dimension of my work has been developed through projects with OperaLab Berlin and other interdisciplinary productions.

Artistic Investigation
Cello Extended Techniques
Research and Documentation Project
Cello Extended Techniques is a research, documentation and artistic mediation project dedicated to extended techniques for the cello. Centred on expanding the instrument’s sonic, physical and performative vocabulary, it brings together artistic practice, reflection and the transmission of knowledge within the fields of new music and contemporary creation. The project is documented on the website, where demonstrative videos can be accessed in order to observe and understand the execution of the different techniques presented. It also functions as a reference resource for students, performers and composers, and has generated positive feedback and enquiries from academic and artistic contexts.

Acoustic Reverb
Sound Investigation Process
Acoustic Reverb is a sound research project centred on the documentation and artistic exploration of the specific acoustics of nine churches in Berlin. Rooted in listening and in the relationship between sound, space and resonance, the project investigates how architecture and reverberation can become active material for creation. It brings together artistic practice, sound recording and reflection on the musical and performative possibilities of these spaces, positioning itself between composition, improvisation and spatial research.

Vergangenes Neu Interpretieren
Photography & Field Recordings Project
Vergangenes Neu Interpretieren is an interdisciplinary research and creation project developed through photography and field recordings, centred on abandoned places in Berlin and Brandenburg. Focusing on the relationships between memory, sound, space and image, the project approaches these territories as sensitive archives, where material traces, acoustic atmospheres and present-day perceptions intersect. It brings together listening, documentation and artistic reflection in a process that connects field research with contemporary artistic practice.
